On August 23, an individual lost approximately $391,000 in crypto assets—comprising 149.32 stETH, 1,066 LINK, and 4.06 ETH—from their account in a transaction completed within 31 seconds. The victim, who identified themselves as the owner of address 0x9170975AAd82bA5d73d51537EA3B64CB62CF84A4, posted an on-chain message to the recipient address describing the stolen funds as a decade of family savings.
The victim offered the holder a settlement: return 80 percent of the funds to a specified address and retain $78,000 as a white-hat bounty, with the victim agreeing to report full restitution to law enforcement and end pursuit. The offer remained open until the attacker's Lido withdrawal finalizes. In the message, the victim stated they had already filed reports with the FBI, FTC, and compliance departments at multiple major exchanges including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, Bybit, HTX, and Gate.
It remains unclear whether the compromise resulted from account breach, private key theft, or another vulnerability. No confirmation has emerged of whether the attacker has responded to the bounty offer or attempted to move the funds across monitored platforms.
