Bullish names Solana, Aptos and Ethereum for equity tokenization push
Tech & Launches ·
The NYSE-listed exchange has identified three initial blockchain networks to carry tokenized equities, extending a infrastructure buildout that already includes a multibillion-dollar transfer-agent acquisition.
Bullish, the institutional crypto exchange trading under the ticker BLSH, has named Solana, Aptos and Ethereum as the initial networks it will use for tokenizing equities. The selection marks a concrete step in a tokenization strategy the exchange has been assembling for months, moving from acquisitions and partnerships toward naming the actual chains that will host tokenized securities.
Aptos has been identified as an initial network partner for the equity tokenization effort, working alongside transfer agent Equiniti, according to a post from Aptos. That collaboration follows Bullish's acquisition of Equiniti for $4.25 billion, a deal structured to add regulated transfer-agent capabilities and build out what has been described as an end-to-end digital asset infrastructure stack for tokenized securities. Pairing a transfer agent's regulatory functions with onchain settlement rails is central to how Bullish is positioning itself to issue and service tokenized equities at scale, rather than relying solely on existing exchange infrastructure.
The three-chain approach spreads the tokenization effort across networks with different design tradeoffs rather than committing to a single blockchain, a choice that could reflect an attempt to hedge technical and liquidity risk as the product moves from announcement to deployment. No timeline, specific equities, or technical details on how assets will move between the three networks have been disclosed.
The tokenization push comes as Bullish's broader financial picture has been mixed. The exchange posted a $605 million loss in the first quarter despite $35 million in adjusted EBITDA and rising Bitcoin options volume, underscoring the gap between underlying trading-business performance and headline results tied to its balance sheet. Institutional sentiment around the stock has also been uneven: Ark Invest trimmed its Bullish position in one month while buying into SpaceX, then added back to Bullish along with Coinbase, Circle and Robinhood the following month as crypto-linked equities rallied.
What remains unresolved is how quickly Bullish can move from naming networks to issuing actual tokenized equity products, what regulatory approvals are still required, and whether the Equiniti integration will be the operational backbone across all three chains or vary by network. The interplay between the exchange's volatile headline earnings and its longer-term tokenization bet is also still untested in practice.
