Chainlink launches Project Pangea with 50+ banks across 16 countries to enable T+0 cross-border FX settlement using blockchain-based digital assets.

Chainlink, in partnership with Qivalis, FairSquareLab, and UniKA, has launched Project Pangea to reshape how banks settle foreign exchange transactions across borders. The initiative brings together over 50 banks operating in 16 countries to enable atomic settlement of regulated digital assets pegged to fiat currencies, collapsing the standard two-day FX settlement window to same-day (T+0) execution while eliminating counterparty risk and capital lock-up.
The architecture preserves existing banking infrastructure—Swift messaging and ISO 20022 standards remain in place—while Chainlink acts as a bridge to route settlement instructions onto blockchain networks. This preserves familiar workflows for participating institutions while introducing real-time finality. The move addresses a longstanding friction point in global finance: the systemic delays, costs, and exposure built into cross-border money movement.
The project sits within a broader wave of institutional blockchain adoption. Parallel developments include tokenized fund operations, compliance frameworks for digital securities, and regulatory partnerships in regulated venues, signaling that production deployment of blockchain in capital markets is accelerating beyond pilot phases. What remains unclear is the full operational timeline and which specific digital asset rails will underpin settlement for individual participating corridors.
