Circle has announced that BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard, Intercontinental Exchange (parent of the New York Stock Exchange), the DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, and Moneygram will serve as initial partners for its Arc blockchain, ahead of a public launch on September 16. The lineup represents backing from major financial infrastructure and payments firms across securities settlement, cryptocurrency custody, and transaction processing.
Arc is designed as a blockchain network where these institutions will help operate the underlying infrastructure. Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire stated that the operator count could expand to as many as 20 or 40 over time, indicating the partnership group remains open to growth. The mechanics of how these partners will contribute to network operation and governance have not been detailed in available materials.
The critical test for Arc will play out over the coming 12 months, as early adoption and actual usage patterns will determine whether the network gains meaningful traction or becomes defined primarily by the strength of its partnership roster rather than active ecosystem development.
