Injective launches Meridian mainnet upgrade with regulated RWA tokenization support and $1B+ in on-chain tokenized assets.

Injective's Meridian mainnet upgrade went live, introducing regulated tokenized real-world asset support and expanded use cases for INJ. The protocol now hosts over $1 billion in tokenized assets on-chain, with tokenized real estate representing a significant portion—the chain added $1.1 billion in that category alone, outpacing other networks by a wide margin. The upgrade also prepares the CypherOS privacy alpha for launch.
Meridian strengthens Injective's RWA infrastructure through several mechanisms. An INJ buyback program has removed nearly $300,000 from circulation, and the SEC recently issued guidance permitting token buybacks without triggering securities classification. A new Stockdrop feature lets buyback participants burn INJ in exchange for ecosystem revenue shares and tokenized stock opportunities. Major exchanges including Coinbase and Binance supported the upgrade at launch.
The upgrade's long-term impact on INJ tokenomics and RWA adoption remains to be demonstrated. The $1 billion figure reflects on-chain tokenized asset value, but how much of this represents new capital inflow versus existing asset representation is unclear. CypherOS's privacy capabilities have not yet launched, making their competitive and network-effect implications speculative.
