Interfold has launched Network Alpha on mainnet, marking the transition from deployment into operational status. During this phase, independent operators will begin joining the network, governance mechanisms will activate, and production Encrypted Execution Environments (E3s) will run regularly, with applications starting to generate demand for the network's capabilities.
The network enables multiple parties—companies, institutions, or individuals—to perform computations on sensitive data while keeping their inputs private and allowing shared results to be verified. Operators join by bonding FOLD tokens and running ciphernode software; when confidential computations are requested, a committee selected from the operator set coordinates duties including distributed key generation and threshold decryption, with no single operator holding the full decryption key. Governance activation is planned but not yet live, though token holders can prepare voting power through locking and delegation, with the governance system itself built on Aragon OSx and using Interfold's CRISP receipt-free voting implementation.
The immediate focus remains on expanding the independent operator set and hardening E3 execution under mainnet conditions across multiple operators. Sealed-bid auctions and governance voting are identified as early applications, though the specific timeline and technical details of broader adoption remain to be detailed.
