Pump.fun launches Boost Mode to recycle trapped migration liquidity into bonded meme coins via automated 5-minute TWAP buybacks and burns.
Tech & Launches ·
Pump.fun has rolled out Boost Mode as the default mechanism for new token launches on its platform, addressing what it describes as over $100M in annual liquidity losses during token migrations. The feature automatically recycles capital that becomes trapped in liquidity pools when tokens move from bonded to decentralized exchange status, reinvesting that capital through buybacks and burns over a 5-minute window using time-weighted average pricing. Tokens migrating after 10:23 EST on July 21 receive Boost Mode automatically, while earlier migrations and tokens launched via Mayhem do not include the configuration.
Historically, approximately 20 percent of liquidity has remained inaccessible in liquidity pools following migrations. Boost Mode redirects this stranded capital—17.6 SOL per pair in SOL denominations and $2,516 per pair in USDC—back into the ecosystem by purchasing tokens at regular intervals and destroying them. The mechanism requires no user action to activate and operates transparently within the existing trading experience.
The rollout's effectiveness depends on sustained migration volume and whether the recovered liquidity materially impacts coin performance post-migration. Details on cumulative buyback volumes, burn rates, or longer-term price impacts remain unreported.
