XRP Ledger v3.3.0 introduces Confidential Transfers, Batch transactions, and Permission Delegation to improve institutional adoption, pending 80% validator approval.
Tech & Launches ·
The XRP Ledger has released version 3.3.0 with several proposed amendments designed to support institutional tokenization. The headline feature, Confidential Transfers, allows institutions to conceal balances and transaction amounts for Multi-Purpose Tokens while preserving visibility of accounts and asset types through cryptographic proofs. Additional proposals include Batch, which groups up to eight transactions atomically; Sponsor, enabling one account to cover another's transaction fees; and Permission Delegation, granting pre-defined permissions without full wallet surrender.
These amendments address specific institutional friction points: privacy for sensitive positions, atomic settlement of complex multi-leg transactions, and customer onboarding without requiring XRP holdings beforehand. Currently, roughly $850 million of the $1.38 billion in real-world assets on XRPL comes from Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD, with approximately $530 million from other issuers including Ondo, Archax, Societe Generale, and VERT Capital.
Activation remains conditional: each amendment must maintain backing from at least 80 percent of trusted validators for two consecutive weeks before going live on Mainnet. None of the features are yet active, leaving their timeline and actual validator support levels uncertain.
