TRM Labs valuation doubles to $2 billion in new funding round

The blockchain analytics firm secured fresh capital from existing backers just six months after its last raise, and is now moving into AI-related crime detection.
Blockchain intelligence company TRM Labs has closed a follow-on financing round that lifts its valuation to $2 billion, up from roughly $1 billion about half a year earlier, according to wublockchain.xyz. The company's chief executive, Esteban Castano, characterized the amount raised as relatively small but declined to specify a figure, leaving the exact size of the round undisclosed.
Alongside the valuation jump, TRM says it anticipates annual recurring revenue climbing to $100 million within the coming years, a target that would mark substantial growth from its current scale. The firm currently employs about 500 people, a headcount that underscores how quickly the company has expanded as demand for blockchain forensics and compliance tools has grown among government and enterprise clients.
TRM is also broadening its product line beyond conventional blockchain tracing. The company plans to launch a new platform in November aimed at identifying AI-driven criminal activity, including deepfake-enabled financial fraud, positioning itself to compete not just on crypto transaction analysis but on emerging categories of AI-assisted crime.
The funding news comes against the backdrop of a separate controversy involving TRM's government contracting. Chainalysis, a rival in the blockchain analytics space, has alleged that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement awarded TRM Labs a contract worth roughly $95 million without going through a competitive bidding process, and has raised questions about how that procurement was handled, per wublockchain.xyz.
What remains unclear is the precise dollar amount raised in the latest round, since Castano did not disclose it beyond calling it modest relative to the valuation increase. Also unresolved is the outcome of the procurement dispute raised by Chainalysis, including whether the ICE contract award will face further scrutiny or a formal review. The rollout and reception of TRM's November AI-crime detection platform, including how it performs against deepfake fraud cases, is likewise still to be seen.
