Circle expands USDC mint-and-redeem capabilities with hourly matching for Mint customers and grows its Alliance Program.

Circle launched Circle Match on October 22, 2026, a hourly auction system that pairs institutional USDC minting and redemption orders within its Mint service. The mechanism routes matched redemption fees directly to minters as rebates, addressing what Circle characterizes as asymmetric economics in its prior setup—minting generated no direct rebate while redemptions carried fees. Only approved Mint customers, which include exchanges, institutional traders, wallet providers, and banks, can participate; individuals are ineligible. Both sides must fund orders before auction entry: redemption participants deposit USDC, while minting-side participants wire dollars into a segregated Match balance that converts to USDC upon settlement.
The auction structure includes a one-minute lock-in period during which participants can submit fresh orders and improve prices but cannot cancel existing commitments. Better-priced orders execute first; orders at the clearing fee receive pro-rata fills. All matched participants pay or receive the same clearing fee, capped at Circle's Express redemption rate, with matched redemptions settling at Express speed. Circle retains no separate spread on matched volume and passes the full redemption fee to minters as spendable USDC in their standard Mint wallet.
Dollar wires deposited for minting convert to restricted USDC that cannot be withdrawn to external blockchain addresses—a constraint distinct from the spendable rebate balance. Unmatched orders follow one of three post-fill actions chosen by participants: Fallback, Roll, or Cancel. Settlement operates on an atomic basis, eliminating the need for inter-participant transfers after matching.
