AZ-COM Maruwah, a major Japanese logistics group, will adopt the JPYC stablecoin for payments to its network of roughly 2,300 partner companies, including independent truck drivers and other contractors. The move represents Japan's first large-scale corporate deployment of JPYC, a yen-pegged stablecoin issued by fintech firm JPYC. The logistics company is also making a 1 billion yen investment in the stablecoin issuer as part of a broader operational partnership.
The shift signals growing adoption of stablecoins beyond traditional financial trading into business-to-business settlement workflows. Rather than relying solely on conventional payment rails, AZ-COM Maruwah will use JPYC to distribute commission payments and other fees to its extensive contractor base, streamlining cross-party transactions at scale.
Questions remain about implementation timelines, technical integration specifics, and how the arrangement will handle regulatory compliance. The extent to which other Japanese logistics firms may follow with similar deployments is also unclear.
