Upbit's Q2 operating profit fell 73% quarter-over-quarter to $16.7M amid weaker liquidity and cooling sentiment.

Dunamu, which operates South Korea's largest crypto exchange Upbit, disclosed Q2 financial results marked by steep declines across key metrics. The company generated KRW 173.5 billion ($123 million) in revenue and KRW 23.5 billion ($16.7 million) in operating profit, representing quarter-over-quarter drops of 26.1% and 73.3%. Net profit fell 60.0% year over year to KRW 39.0 billion ($27.6 million), while first-half operating profit contracted 79.7% annually to KRW 111.5 billion ($79 million).
The company attributed the deterioration to two concurrent pressures: reduced liquidity in crypto markets and a pullback in investor appetite across the global sector. These headwinds compressed margins and trading volumes, directly impacting the exchange's bottom line.
It remains unclear whether Dunamu expects these conditions to persist into subsequent quarters or what specific operational adjustments, if any, the company plans to restore profitability to prior levels.
