A criminal group calling itself iamnotavillain has demanded 6,000 XMR—approximately $3 million—from Revolut within 24 hours, threatening to sell customer identity documents and transaction records if the demand is not met. The group stated it identified targets by using blockchain analysis to find Revolut accounts with substantial crypto holdings, then accessed those accounts through a sophisticated impersonation scam that exploited a compromised government email system, affecting at least 680 accounts. Revolut said it has not received direct contact or demands from the group and described the number of affected customers as limited. The ransom demand specifies Monero, a privacy coin that obfuscates transaction details but has been delisted by major exchanges.
