POSCO tokenized corporate receivables on Injective blockchain in institutional RWA pilot with LG CNS.
RWA & Tokenization ·
South Korean trading company POSCO International has launched a blockchain pilot to tokenize corporate receivables on Injective, partnering with LG CNS, the technology unit of LG Group. Injective was selected as the layer-1 blockchain for this institutional-grade test, which involves actual trade claims between POSCO's international subsidiaries and their counterparties rather than simulated data. POSCO generated $22.2 billion in revenue last year across steel, energy, and battery materials operations.
The pilot addresses inefficiencies in how trade receivables—amounts owed after goods ship but before payment arrives—are currently handled. Today, these claims exist separately across buyers, sellers, and banks, with settlement typically requiring days of reconciliation before funds transfer. By recording receivables on a shared blockchain ledger, the companies aim to establish a unified record that can be transferred and settled while embedding compliance rules directly into the asset.
POSCO stated the test validated AI and blockchain applicability using real trade workflows and data. The company intends to move from pilot phase to live production later this year, pending completion of the current test. LG CNS brings prior experience with South Korea's central bank digital currency development and operates tokenization infrastructure for KOSCOM and Mirae Asset Securities, though the scope and timeline for any broader rollout remain unspecified.
