Ripple and BNY Mellon expand custody support for XRP and RLUSD while exploring tokenized trade finance for invoice financing.
RWA & Tokenization ·
Ripple has entered a partnership with C2FO to accelerate supplier payments on the XRP Ledger, enabling funds to reach recipients in seconds rather than days. The collaboration harnesses Ripple's US dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, to process settlements faster while keeping existing invoice structures intact.
In parallel, Ripple is deepening its relationship with BNY around custody and settlement infrastructure. The expanded arrangement covers custody services for both XRP and RLUSD, and the two firms are exploring tokenized trade finance applications on the XRP Ledger. Additionally, Ripple National Trust Bank has received approval to oversee reserves backing RLUSD.
The moves signal Ripple's shift toward real-world payment and finance use cases. Outstanding questions include the scope and timeline of C2FO deployment, the scale of institutions expected to join the BNY custody framework, and how invoice tokenization will be operationalized across existing enterprise systems.
