USHP launches as an on-chain digital asset tracking the U.S. home price index, providing liquid exposure to a $55 trillion real estate market.

USHP, a digital asset tracking the U.S. home price index, has secured a $50 million commitment from Galaxy in its pre-launch institutional funding round. The product will launch on Ethereum and aims to provide investors with liquid, indexed exposure to U.S. residential real estate, an asset class valued at approximately $55 trillion that has historically lacked a direct, investable instrument despite its size comparable to the S&P 500.
The mechanism addresses a long-standing gap in capital markets: while benchmarks like the FHFA House Price Index and Case-Shiller Index exist, they cannot be directly invested in, and alternative routes such as homebuilder stocks or REITs introduce layers of operating leverage and equity-market beta that obscure pure home-price exposure. USHP is designed to sidestep the traditional barriers of substantial down payments, mortgages, and property management responsibilities.
Galaxy's investment reflects a broader thesis that onchain capital markets are expanding into real-world assets with durable yields. The firm notes that roughly $300 billion in stablecoin supply currently generates minimal returns, and that housing's historical stability, low volatility, and low correlation with other financial assets could appeal to both traditional real estate investors and crypto institutions. Whether USHP will attract meaningful institutional participation and how regulatory frameworks will treat the product remain unresolved.
