BNB Chain plans to launch a new L1 running parallel to BSC with shared BNB token, native bridge, ~200ms blocks, and testnet by end of 2026.
Tech & Launches ·
BNB Chain is developing a new Layer 1 blockchain that will operate alongside its existing BSC network while maintaining a unified token ecosystem. According to documentation updated October 22, the new L1—whose name remains undetermined—will connect to BSC via a native bridge and will not introduce a separate token. The chain will use BNB for gas fees, staking, and governance functions.
The proposed architecture targets block times around 200 milliseconds with pre-confirmation latency of roughly 20 milliseconds. An internal multi-validator development network is currently operational. Public testing is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026, with mainnet launch expected in early 2027.
The initiative reflects a multi-chain strategy that preserves token consolidation across separate networks. Key technical and operational details—including validator requirements, bridge mechanics, and final naming—remain to be finalized ahead of the testnet phase.
