Robinhood Chain surpasses $1 billion in DEX volume during debut week
Tech & Launches ·
New blockchain network logs 17 million transactions and 350,000 active addresses as activity clusters heavily around meme tokens.
Robinhood Chain processed more than 17 million transactions and drew nearly 350,000 active addresses in its first week of operation, according to BlockBeats. Cumulative DEX trading volume on the network topped $1 billion in the same period, while total value locked reached $250 million, placing the chain fifth among all networks by that measure.
A single day accounted for a disproportionate share of the activity: Wednesday alone saw $568 million in trading volume, with 24-hour DEX volume of roughly $433 million that briefly put Robinhood Chain ahead of Hyperliquid, according to BlockBeats. That one-day figure represents close to half of the week's total volume, underscoring how concentrated the surge has been.
Much of the early momentum has come from meme coins rather than the institutional or real-world-asset use cases Robinhood has outlined for the chain longer term. Cash Cat reached a market capitalization above $180 million, and tokens including Dog In Hood, Hoodrat, and Robinhood Summer posted gains ranging from several times to several dozen times their starting value, per the same report. Individual trading outcomes cited included one trader turning $800 into more than $1 million, and another turning $85 into $2 million.
Arbitrum, which supplies the underlying technology for Robinhood Chain, benefited from the launch, with ARB rising about 20% on the day of peak activity. Under the chain's revenue arrangement, 10% of net protocol income is returned to the Arbitrum ecosystem, a mechanism likely tied to that price move.
A separate account of the launch put bridged ETH into the network at $70 million and daily users at 194,000, a corroborating but distinct set of figures from the transaction and address counts reported elsewhere, as noted by Cointelegraph. Infrastructure additions such as Owlto have also joined the ecosystem, a step read as preparation for a possible shift toward tokenized-asset applications.
What remains unresolved is whether the current volume, driven largely by speculative meme trading and concentrated in one exceptionally active day, can transition into the real-world-asset and tokenized-stock activity Robinhood has signaled as the chain's longer-term purpose, with early partners including Uniswap positioned for that shift.
