VerifiedX releases Mainnet 9.0.0 upgrade with self-custodial recovery vaults and transfer delay protections to prevent hacked asset transfers.

VerifiedX has deployed Mainnet 9.0.0, introducing upgraded self-custodial recovery vaults designed to protect vBTC holders from unauthorized transfers. The system allows users to impose a delay period before transfers become irreversible, during which mistaken or compromised transactions can be recalled and funds returned to an owner-controlled address. These protections operate through on-chain consensus without intermediary custody.
The upgrade integrates Bitcoin light-client functionality directly into VerifiedX's validator infrastructure, giving validators the ability to independently confirm Bitcoin block headers, proof-of-work validity, and chain continuity at a 6 confirmation burial depth. This architectural choice eliminates reliance on external oracles for Bitcoin verification and consolidates security enforcement within the VerifiedX network itself.
The mechanism addresses a specific risk vector—asset theft following wallet compromise—by introducing a recovery window. What remains unclear is the configurable range of delay periods available to users, whether the recall function extends to partial transfers, and how the system handles edge cases where competing claims arise during the delay window.
