Onchain RWA market approaches $40B distributed value across 39 networks, with Ethereum leading but Solana and BNB Chain gaining share; tokenized equity grew 390% YTD but capital deployment into DeFi remains fragmented.

Onchain real-world assets have reached approximately $39.04B in distributed value as of late October 2026, with holdings spread across 39 networks and held by over 5.3 million addresses, according to RWA.xyz tracking data. A critical distinction exists between this distributed figure and the $389.25B in represented asset value also tracked—the latter includes assets with transfer restrictions, making direct comparison misleading. Ethereum maintains the largest share at $15.9B, but BNB Chain ($6.2B), Solana ($4.9B), Stellar ($3.8B), and Avalanche ($1.6B) have grown into material positions, signaling that RWA expansion is no longer concentrated on a single network.
Tokenized equities have shown outsized momentum, growing 390.4% year-to-date through mid-September, though this expansion occurs from a smaller base than bonds and money-market funds. Treasury-linked products and dollar-denominated yield instruments remain the primary demand drivers, while gold-backed tokens and private credit instruments contribute to diversification. Traditional finance infrastructure is moving onchain: the DTCC reported successful production trades using tokenized securities in July ahead of its October 2026 service launch, and the SEC granted temporary exemptive relief for certain venues trading tokenized U.S. stocks through permissioned liquidity mechanisms.
Capital deployment remains the open question—Binance Research estimated only 12% of tracked tokenized asset value was actively deployed in qualifying onchain financial applications. Remaining capital is held across investment portfolios, permissioned environments, and ineligible-for-DeFi holdings. The gap between issuance and utility suggests the next phase of market maturation depends on expanding use cases in lending, collateral, and liquidity provisioning rather than further supply creation.
