Aviva Investors has introduced a tokenized share class for its Sterling Liquidity Fund, which holds approximately £22 billion in assets, onto the XRP Ledger. The Ireland-domiciled UCITS money market fund employs a digital twin structure to represent holdings on the blockchain while preserving its existing regulatory framework and investment objectives. Aviva has committed £50 million to the new tokenized share class, bringing its total tokenized fund holdings across both offerings to more than £86 million.
This launch marks the second tokenized fund Aviva has deployed on the XRP Ledger, following its USD Liquidity Fund in July. The Feb partnership with Ripple positioned Aviva as the latter's first investment management partner in Europe. The Sterling offering maintains the same liquidity features, risk profile, and regulatory protections as its traditional counterpart while enabling access through digital wallets to eligible investors.
Aviva's chief executive stated the expansion signals the firm's intent to lead in tokenization and establish foundations for broader capability growth. Custody is managed by The Bank of New York Mellon, with Komainu providing regulated digital asset custody services and Licuido supplying infrastructure for tokenized real-world assets.
